Nigerian Bottling Company: Quad Generation and CO₂ Recovery Plants

Project overview

Working alongside ContourGlobal Solutions, our team partnered with external engineering service providers and contractors to develop three quad generation plants of 2 MWe, 3 MWe and 5 MWe for the Nigerian Bottling Company, a subsidiary of Coca Cola. The plants provided power, heat, cooling and recovered carbon dioxide for beverage production.

Carbon capture and utilisation was a primary project requirement. The system used an MEA based absorption and solvent regeneration process with a reboiler to extract CO₂ from the plant flue gas.

The recovered CO₂ was purified and analysed to verify 99.99% purity for use in Coca Cola production. Applicable HACCP requirements were applied to the process, product quality and safety controls associated with this use.

JCM Consultant Engineers developed the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) packages for the three plants and managed the competitive tendering and award of contracts to qualified service providers and contractors.

We provided project engineering services from design review and optimisation through site supervision and coordination. We also acted as Owner's Engineer, overseeing the design, installation and commissioning of all three plants, including the integrated carbon capture, purification and utilisation systems.
