Data Centres & Energy Centres

Resilient power, cooling and utility infrastructure for mission critical facilities.

JCMCE supports the physical infrastructure that makes data centre developments investible, buildable and dependable in operation. Our focus is the utility and energy centre scope: grid connection, electrical distribution, standby and on site generation, energy storage, cooling and heat rejection, water, fuel, controls, emissions and opportunities for heat recovery and lower carbon operation.

Our experience includes project design management and engineering governance for CHP and trigeneration schemes providing power, heating and cooling to data centres and other critical facilities. We can bring that energy and project delivery experience into a data centre team from site and utility due diligence through concept selection, FEED, detailed design assurance, procurement, construction, commissioning and operational improvement.

We coordinate with the developer, operator, building designer, network operators, equipment suppliers and specialist technology providers. Our scope centres on the physical engineering infrastructure on which resilient digital operations depend, with server and information technology architecture managed as coordinated specialist interfaces.

Development decisions

Questions we help the client resolve.

Whether the site can secure the required electrical, water, fuel and communications utility capacity within the development programme

Which resilience, redundancy, phasing and maintainability basis is proportionate to the operating and availability commitments

Which combination of grid supply, standby generation, storage, on site generation, renewables and heat recovery provides the best balance of risk, cost, carbon and programme

Whether the utility and energy centre definition is mature enough for investment sanction, connection applications, procurement and progressive construction release
